The People’s Democratic Party PDP, has reiterated its determination to recover Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s ‘stolen mandate’ at the election petitions tribunal, no matter how difficult.
The PDP, speaking through the Deputy National Chairman (South) Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, made this known on Monday, when he featured as a guest on Happenings Radio flagship political programme, Talk Politics with Eniola Awokoya, at the Lagos studio.
The party chieftain, explained that according to reports gotten from their agents on the field on election day and data from INEC server, the PDP candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, won the elections with a total of 1.6 million votes.
Akinwonmi, insisted that following the amount of information, facts and figures including documents in the possession of the People’s Democratic Party, the PDP will emerge victorious at the tribunal.
“ I am telling you that by the time the trial commences, the monumental documents that will be tendered by the PDP, will shake the whole Nigeria”.
The PDP statesman, also berated the President of the Court of Appeal Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, over what he termed her refusal to disqualify herself from overseeing the elections petition tribunals and dissolving the various election petition tribunals she has constituted.
Akinwonmi, opined that according to the law, if a Plaintiff has no confidence in the Judge handling his case, the respectable thing for the judge to do is to step down.
“How can you expect somebody that has got partisan interest and is directly involved in partisan politics to be the President of the Appeal Court that will adjudicate in a matter where her husband is a Senator-elect and her son was a Gubernatorial candidate of the APC and member of the campaign team of President Muhammadu Buhari? If you behave that way, you are running foul of the law because the law says that the moment the person you want to adjudicate upon has no confidence in you, then you should step aside’
Following the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 presidential election, the People’s Democratic party, claims that its mandate was stolen and has since demanded the Independent Electoral Commission to declare the party’s candidate Atiku Abubakar as the winner of the Feb. 23, 2019 Presidential election.
