Osun 2022: Traditionalists warn against violence, say defaulters will face Ogun, Sango’s wrath
On Wednesday, the leadership of the Traditional Religion Worshippers Association of Osun State advised politicians against inciting violence during the state’s upcoming gubernatorial election.
The organisation warned that anybody who causes unrest during the election will face the wrath of Sango and Ogun, urging stakeholders to avoid violence in the state’s general interest.
This was stated in a statement issued by TRWASO President, Dr Oluseyi Atanda, on the occasion of his one-year anniversary as the organization’s leader.
It was Atanda’s message to other religious organisations that they should pray for peace and abstain from actions that may jeopardise it, and he urged others to do the same.
Part of the statement reads: “As we approach the climax of political interplay in Osun, we as spiritualists will continue to pray to God Almighty and make supplications to the terrestrial to have a peaceful electioneering outing.
“Let me state that it is likely that some desperate politicians will attempt a do or die approach and attempt to set Osun on fire, God Olodumare will not allow this to happen.
“I want to enjoin all other religious groups to embark on prayers for a peaceful transition in Osun and admonish trouble makers to stop, otherwise they will incur the wrath of Sango and Ogun. Osun is peaceful and we want peace for all.”
According to Atanda, who summarised the group’s operations over the last year, his administration has reinforced its local government branches while the organization’s headquarters complex construction is ongoing.
