Nigeria’s Super Eagles To Play Costa Rica In A Friendly In November
An international friendly between Nigeria and Costa Rica, which will play in the 2022 World Cup, is scheduled on November 9 at San Jose.
As part of their preparation for the 2022 Fifa World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, Costa Rica will play the three-time African champions.
Due to the Super Eagles’ absence from the world cup, the match will help Jose Peseiro’s team prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
In a statement on Thursday, October 6, the NFF stated: “The Super Eagles will confront the senior national team of Costa Rica in a prestigious international friendly in the country’s capital, San Jose on 9th November. The three-time African champions have been invited to the Central American nation as part of major activities to send forth the Los Ticos to the Fifa World Cup finals in Qatar.”
Luis Fernando Suarez’s team, making their sixth participation at the finals, has been placed in Group E with Spain, Japan, and Germany in an effort to improve upon their quarterfinal finish from Brazil 2014.
The Portuguese strategist Peseiro has lost three of his five matches since succeeding Augustine Eguavoen.
