Nigerian Rapper Ice Prince Has Been Released From Ikoyi Prison
This is what his lawyer Folarin Dalmeida stated on Friday, September 9, 2022.
“His bail conditions have been met, and he was released yesterday (Thursday),” he said.
Recall that on September 7 during the trial, the prosecution’s lawyer asked the court to suspend the case due to the absence of his two witnesses.
Nevertheless the two sureties were brought to the court by the rapper’s lawyer Dalmenida.
He had previously been granted bail in the amount of N500,000 by the court, with the condition that he produce “two responsible sureties.”
Ice Prince was taken into custody on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
In a statement made public, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, said that the musician kidnapped and threatened to kill an officer after the latter was pulled over for driving without a license.
“At 3 am today, @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without license plates. He agreed to be taken to the station. He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river. He has been arrested and would be arraigned today,” he tweeted.
The musician was eventually charged and put in custody at the Ikoyi Prison until his bail requirements were satisfied.
