Member States Of ECOWAS To Help Tackle Insecurity – Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed said President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to the service chiefs is now showing results.

Mohammed, who was speaking in Kano on Tuesday, August 30, at a two-day National Conference on Culture, Peace, and National Security organized by the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), and who was represented by Memunat Idu-lah, Director of International Cultural Relations, disclosed that the Federal Government had sent two bills to the National Assembly on the transmission of explosives as well as the control of small arms and light weapons.

He said;

“The military has recorded successes in neutralising the activities of bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, and other forms of criminality across the country.

“Also, the present administration is having constructive and meaningful engagement with member states of ECOWAS, and other regional blocks to decisively tackle insecurity in Nigeria.”

Lai Mohammed asserted that the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria was partly a result of biased reporting, the fake news phenomenon, hate speech, and disinformation.
