ICC U-19 WCQ: Nigeria Defeats Botswana By 10 Wickets In The Second Match

At the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup Africa Division Two Qualifiers in Abuja, Nigeria has maintained its supremacy.

The team coached by Daniel Gim defeated Botswana on Sunday, October 2, 2020, and Rwanda in their initial matches, both by a combined score of 10 wickets. Nigeria has gotten closer to another World Cup ambition thanks to the two victories.

Nigeria chose to bowl in yesterday’s match at the MKO Abiola National Stadium’s Cricket Pitch B after winning the toss.

With a combined total of 6 wickets in 11 overs against the Botswana team, Elochukwu Ndububem and captain Ridwan Kareem caused the greatest damage.

Karabo Makwatse and Leungo Mosalaesi had to combine for 36 runs in 25 balls for the visiting team to stop Botswana from scoring 56 runs in 24.2 overs.

A very disciplined Nigerian team started the game to chase the target, relying solely on Pam Paul and Selim Salam’s partnership to complete the game with 58 runs without losing any wickets in 10.5 overs.

Tuesday’s last group B matchup between Nigeria and Sierra Leone will be played.

There are presently six teams competing in the qualifications, with the top three teams moving on to the next round of World Cup qualifying.
