Gunmen Abduct Popular Shop Owner In Kogi
Funke Ayodele, the owner of a well-known grocery shop known as “Cheapest Ladies and Kiddies Place,” has been abducted by unidentified gunmen.
It was reported that after closing her shop in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi state, on Wednesday night, she was confronted at the gate of her home.
According to an eyewitness, the woman was about entering her compound at the Baptist church area in Ganaja-Lokoja when four armed men rushed on her, grabbed her out of her car, and transported her to an unidentified location.
When the thugs pulled firearms and began firing randomly to frighten others away, the gateman and those who were at the gate when her attackers struck fled for safety.
According to a family source, the woman was kidnapped at 9 pm by men who claimed to be following her from her shop in Lokoja’s Phase II neighborhood.
“She drove in, waiting for the gateman to open the gate of her house when suddenly four boys dressed in black regalia stopped her at gunpoint and dragged her to their car.
“Before we understood what was going on, the boys put her in their car and drove off. We have not received any call from them.
“We are very much concerned for her life, because she has been suffering from high blood pressure,” A person from the family who requested anonymity said.
The store that was visited by the state’s elite as at Thursday was under lock and key.
It is rumored that she is building a modern family home behind her supermarket, which is situated behind phase two estate area and in front of the well-liked Idrinana hotel on Lokoja-Okene Road, Lokoja.
Her husband is said to be a director in the state ministry of water resources who was not in the office on Thursday.
