Court Declares All PDP Primaries In Ogun Invalid

A federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, has declared all primaries held by the various factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state invalid.

After Jimi Lawal, a governorship candidate, challenged the Sikirulahi Ogundele faction of the party’s delegate list used during the primary, which was held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, the court issued its ruling.

In order to dispute the legitimacy of the Sikirulahi Ogundele-led state executive of the party in the state, other candidates also went before the court.

Because the primaries did not adhere to the Electoral Act’s guidelines, Justice O.O. Oguntoyinbo declared them invalid.

Within fourteen days, Justice O.O. Oguntoyinbo ordered a new round of the primaries.
