Breaking! ASUU Extends Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has again extended its ongoing strike.

After its National Executive Council, NEC meeting in Abuja, the nation’s public university lecturers’ union took action.

The ASUU meeting, which started late on Sunday at the University of Abuja’s headquarters, ended early on Monday with the decision to extend the strike.

A member of the NEC who wants anonymity since he is not the union’s spokesperson said majority of local congress had approved the continuation of the strike.

“We expect nothing less. Most of the congresses voted for an indefinite strike. The NEC takes decisions based on the reports from branches,” he said.

Another member said, “I can confidently tell you that the majority of ASUU branches across the country voted for an indefinite strike. Over 90% voted for an indefinite strike. “’
