Amidst ASUU Strike, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola Becomes The First Female Vice Chancellor

Folasade Ogunsola, a Clinical Microbiology Professor, has been appointed the University of Lagos’ Vice Chancellor.

On Friday, October 7, 2022, the UNILAG Governing Council declared her appointment.

She is UNILAG’s 13th vice-chancellor and the institution’s first female vice-chancellor in 60 years.

On November 11, 2022, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe’s term as President will come to an end.

Ogunsola, daughter of the late distinguished geographer , Prof. Akin Mabogunje has worked at the university in various positions.

She once held the position of provost at the College of Medicine in Idi Araba, Lagos, and assisted Ogundipe as Deputy Vice Chancellor.
